This workshop covers every stage of making a traditional tailored lampshade. By the end of the two days you will have completed a lampshade of your own and gained an understanding of the techniques behind this traditional skill. Choose from a selection of beautiful fabrics provided, or bring your own and we can discuss whether it is suitable for the project.
ON THE DAY
Learn how to prepare a frame for a handstitched tailored lampshade.
Cut, fit and hand sew fabric using traditional techniques.
Make a traditional balloon lining by hand.
Finish your lampshade with a handstitched bias edge.
All materials are included.
Bring your own lunch. Refreshments will be provided
Please note that handstitched lampshade making can be quite fiddly and involves a significant amount of hand sewing. If you have any issues with your hands or wrists, please consider whether the workshop will be comfortable for you.
