Terms and Conditions

Returns or cancellations

Any items made to your specification, at your request, or duplicates made at your request are not covered by the Distance Selling Regulations. They are commissions and are therefore not covered by my returns policy for items purchased directly from this website. Returns or refunds cannot be made on any custom made or bespoke items. Therefore, please ensure that you have thought about what you want in detail before you order. I am happy to discuss options and work through the design process with you.

If you wish to cancel a bespoke or custom order, please contact me as soon as possible. If I have already purchased materials to do the job or started work on your order I cannot offer a full refund.

Commissions

If you are interested in commissioning a bespoke or custom-made item, or have furniture that needs reupholstering please, email me with your ideas and requirements. Drawings or photos of your inspiration will really help me understand your vision. Ideas about sizes, fabric, colours, look and feel will also be helpful, as will mood boards.

I will discuss with you all the options and I will provide you with a written quote which you are able to accept or not. If you accept I will request full payment or a deposit, amount to be negotiated, before ordering materials or starting work. I will provide a timescale for delivery. I will give details of the order and a breakdown of costs. You will be required to accept these terms via email after which any changes to the order will incur a cost which you are liable for. If I discover anything that requires a change to the quote, I will check that you are happy to proceed and accept the increased charges before I proceed with the new work.

If you choose and supply your own fabric, for use in your commission it is on the understanding that it is in usable condition, without imperfections or creases and is suitable for use in the making of the lampshade, upholstery, or other item you have commissioned. If I discover the fabric is damaged or imperfect I will notify you as soon as possible. I do not accept liability for any such damage or imperfection. If the fabric is or has been folded I will charge for the time taken to iron out the creases and folds to the best of my ability - please be aware some fabrics will remain creased. You should ask that your supplier sends all fabric rolled on a tube. I reserve the right to decline to use your fabric if it is not suitable for the item you have commissioned or if it is in an unsuitable condition. I do not accept liability for any loss or damage of any products you send (or anyone instructed by you to send) to me and recommend all such products are insured and tracked when sent.

Hard lampshades

The PVC lampshade material used to line my hard lampshades has been tested by the manufacturer with the Lighting Association Laboratories and has passed the glow wire test for fire resistance to comply with BS EN 60598-1-2008, the British Standard for Luminaries.

Handstitched lampshades

Traditional soft lampshades are not covered by the BS EN 60598-1-2008 regulations. All of my handstitched shades on my online shop are made with 100% natural fibres with a silk lining that would smolder rather than combust.

Modern lightbulbs are cool to touch and pose virtually no fire risk.

Bulbs

Recommendations for bulb wattage are provided on each lampshade listing. They are as follows:

Bulb Wattage / Distance of bulb form inside of shade

  • 0-25 Watts / 25mm

  • 26-40 Watts / 50mm

  • 41-60 Watts / 65mm

  • 61-75 Watts / 75mm

  • 76-100 Watts / 90mm

  • 101-150 Watts / 130mm

Fabric colour

I aim to show the colours of the items as accurately as possible on the website but because of varying computer settings the colours may differ on your computer screen. Returns will not be accepted if the colour is not exact. If you require colour matching, email me to ask for a sample of the fabric before making an online purchase.
